Responsible AI

AI assistance, with human responsibility

Our principles for defined AI assistance, meaningful review and professional judgement.

Four principles

AI assists defined tasks

It does not replace competent professional judgement or independently approve safety decisions.

Human review matters

People need to check context, accuracy and suitability, and be able to question, edit or reject an output.

Treat outputs as drafts

AI can be wrong or incomplete. A polished draft is not evidence that observation, consultation or authorisation occurred.

Escalate where needed

Specialist or safety-critical decisions require appropriate human expertise. Stop, refer or escalate where evidence or competence is insufficient.

Responsible use

Do not use generated content as the sole basis for a safety-critical decision or bypass required review. Do not use AI for covert worker monitoring outside an approved lawful process, or enter information prohibited by the relevant product notice or agreement.
